Support the Big City Mountaineers!

After summiting our 6^th highpoint yesterday, Taum Sauk Mountain in Missouri, it is time for another blog…however you’ll have to wait a bit longer for that.  In the meantime, we have some exciting news in regards to our goal of raising $50,000 for Big City Mountaineers.  Make sure to read to the end to learn about our first raffle for a pair of cycling shorts and water bottle. 

We are excited to announce some exciting news!  An anonymous donor has made a matching gift pledge in support of our charity, the Big City Mountaineers.  They have pledged $1,000 for every 10 peaks we reach.  (That’s $5,000 total!)  But as we said, it’s a matching donation, so they will only match the $1,000 if we have raised it by the time we reach every 10 peaks.  We have already raised $260, so if we reached the 10th peak tomorrow, they would match it and donate $260…but if we raise $1,000 or more by the time we reach the 10^th peak, they will donate $1,000!  With the matching program, if you give $5 it’s like giving $10 or if you give $25 it’s like giving $50.  So their is no confusion, we would like to clarify that this is for donations to the Big City Mountaineers directly.  Follow this link to make a donation to the Big City Mountaineers.  https://ssl.charityweb.net/bcm/friends/cyclingforthesummit.htm

We are already over halfway to the first 10, so hopefully we will see some donations to the Big City Mountaineers rolling in soon.  As we are beginning to find our pace, we will begin to stop and make presentation in towns along the way and encourage donations, but you can help too!  Encourage your friends, family and co-workers to give, or even better team up with them to make a group donation.  You could even hold your own fundraising dinner, give a portion of the proceeds from a garage sale or cash in the change in your cars cup holder to make a donation.

To jump-start the donations, we are excited to announce our first raffle.  Not only will your donation be matched, now you will be entered into a drawing for an awesome prize pack!  The prize pack includes a Voler gift certificate for a pair of cycling shorts ($70 value, www.voler.com)  and a 16oz. water bottle  ($10 value.)  For every $10 you donate, your name will be entered into the raffle once, so if you donate $30 you will be entered into the raffle 3 time, etc.  The raffle will be open to any donations made through October 31^st, 2011 and we will announce the winner on the first of November!
